filming will resume...

after the NEW YEAR!

presently editing new footage from SF.

we have a song!

Cheshire Faulkner has given us a song for the film entitled 'lez bike.' And it is FABULOUS! BIG LOVE, CHESH <3

SAN FRANCISCO SHOOTS!

SF (read: Castro) welcomed me and my camera with open arms. The more I talked about the film, the more excited we all got. First stop was Orphan Andy's Diner, an old haunt of mine from thirty years ago. Michael was working there then and he's still there today. I filmed him behind the counter. All told, I got six folks at Andy's alone. I then tromped up the street and filmed more lovely people. It was a gorgeous day in THE CITY and a rousing welcome home (of sorts) for me. Thank you San Francisco!

big news!

I have made a decision. In editing the film, I have found that using the footage of straight allies just doesn't work in the flow of the message (which is - this is what Queer looks like). The footage I have could be made into another film altogether, but that's for another day.

So, for this film, for this* is what QUEER looks like, I will now only be filming Queer folks.

I have been awed and deeply touched by straight friends and allies who have come forward to take part in this project. i thank you so much for your love and support. If/When I do a film based on "I love my Gay...," the probability of which is quite good, I will get in touch with you.

In the meantime, keep showing your support for this film and continue being awesome allies to your Gay friends and family members. We need you.

dear, lovely Queer folk

this is your opportunity to opt in.

as i've said, the mission of this film to dispel the misconceptions of Queers in the world today. and for those of you who want to participate in front of the camera, i've made it really easy for you. each person has one line. only one. and it's the same line as everyone else, except for one word.

the line is: this is what ___________ looks like.

all you have to do is fill in the blank with what is true for you, whether that be Queer, Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, etc. one person said: this is what loving yourself looks like. sweet, huh?

and it will only take a few minutes of your sweet time.

so, if you're all jazzed up about this, as i am, please respond to this by messaging me to say I'M IN! for those of you who don't want to be in the film but wish to donate your time and energy, let me know that, too.
if you're unsure, please feel free to ask any questions you may have. i love talking about this project.

i will continue posting here to update you on how things are progressing and what to expect next.

one thing: when time comes for you to get in front of the camera, bring your friends, family, partner, pets... the more the merrier.

thanks for your time. i look forward to hearing from you.

love.

appreciation

to those friends (you know who you are) who have shown up in support of the film and me:
A HUGE HEART-FELT THANK YOU! I COULDN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU! ♥

for our straight allies

for straight allies, an option for you to appear in this* is what QUEER looks like is the following line:
"i/we love our GLBTyada... friends/neighbors/daughter/mother...etc."
 so, please join us!!!

my mission

my mission: to dispel misconceptions about Queer people in the world.

28 September 2011

what we're all about

first off, we're all about love. then comes respect. integrity. you get it. right?

but the overall picture of what this* is what QUEER looks like is the creation of a viral (fingers crossed) video that will travel the world as a look into the reality of who Queer people are. because we are everyone. we are just like you. we love, we hurt, we pine, we bleed.

it's not rocket science. it's a very simple concept. unfortunately, many people in the world think otherwise. there are ridiculous misconceptions about us. for instance, some people believe there is such a thing as a gay agenda. well, i've been Queer all my life and i have no clue what that might be.

there's also this idea of a gay lifestyle. really? well, every Queer person i know is different from the next. just like straight people. weird, huh? NOT REALLY.

we've got a big job on our hands: changing people's minds about us. so, we want to make it as easy as possible. and to do that WE NEED YOU!

if you live in the pacific northwest and want to be in our film, contact us. join us on facebook (even if you're not in our area). show your support. and we're not just looking for Queer folks. we welcome our straight allies with open arms. so, PLEASE JOIN US!

love...
